Coolock Development Council

History

The Coolock Development Council (CDC) was formally established in 1990 to oversee the development of the St John Vianny School , which was renamed as the Coolock Development Centre, into a premises that would provide facilities and services that would benefit the people living in the surrounding community. It is a not for profit organisation with charitiable status.

Board of Directors

The board of Directors are drawn from a variety of sectors and includes:

Overview

In 1994, a section of the former school was redeveloped to provide small business incubator units for local entrepreneurs. Renovation work was also undertaken on the remaining parts of the building to provide workspace and meeting rooms for local community organisations to work from and/or meet in. In 2001 the Coolock Development Council built the Northside Enterprise Centre on the 4.5 acre site, which provides business units and supports for entrepreneurs who are looking at the moving to larger premises as their business grows. The Coolock Development Council (CDC) currently oversee the delivery of services to 34 community organisation and business tenants who combined, employ over 160 people. The Coolock Development Council established two social economy companies under the Pobal Community Services Programme. Northside Facilities & Services Ltd provides property management services which include administration, maintenance, catering and cleaning services. It is currently contracted by the CDC to provide facilities and services management to the Northside Enterprise Centre. The second company established is Northside Security Services Limited. The company provides 24 x 7 services to the Coolock Development Centre, Northside Enterprise Centre and St Michael’s House. They also provide security services to a range of private sector customers.
